Jane Williams built a renowned private saxophone studio in Iowa that ran from 1999-2013. She relocated to Idaho in 2013 and has spent the past year building a new saxophone studio. She holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts in saxophone performance and pedagogy with a minor in music theory pedagogy from the University of
Iowa. She earned her Master of Arts degree from the University of Iowa
in saxophone performance, and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from
Williams has most recently bee honored to perform with the Boise-based big band, The Kings of Swing, for several performances including the Sun Valley International Jazz Festival. She has been invited to perform for the Boise Tuesday Musicale, and played with the Boise Philharmonic. In Iowa, she was a frequent performer with the Cedar Rapids Community
Band, and the lead alto saxophonist for the New Venue Big Band. She
performed several solo recitals in Iowa including degree recitals and
faculty recitals. She has also played with the Waverly Community
Symphony and been a part of the pit orchestra in theater productions in
Iowa City. In 2006, her university quartet advanced to the national
level of the Music Teacher's National Association chamber music
competition in Seattle, Washington.
From 1999-2013 Dr. Williams ran a large saxophone studio of junior
high through high school-age students in Iowa City, Iowa. Her students
won places in the Iowa All-State Band each year. In addition, they
were awarded superior ratings at solo and ensemble contests, Outstanding
Soloist Awards, Best of Center awards, places in the Southeast Iowa
Honor band, the Iowa State University Honor band, the University of Iowa
Honor band, and many other honor groups. Three of her students won the
Iowa Bandmaster's Association music scholarship award. They can be
found sitting in top chairs in their school ensemble groups, and two of
her students were featured on National Public Radio's syndicated
program, "From the Top." In 2012, two of her students placed
first and alternate at the state solo woodwind competition that was held
by the Music Teacher's National Association (MTNA).
Her Boise students have been selected by audition for the Boise junior high honor band, are placed in top ensembles at their schools, and advanced to state solo contest with a superior rating.

top studios in the country including Northwestern University with Dr.
Timothy McAllister; The University of Minnesota, with Dr. Eugene
Rousseau; The University of North Carolina-Greensboro with Dr. Steven
Stusek; The University of Missouri-Columbia with Leo Saguiguit; The
University of Iowa with Dr. Kenneth Tse, the University of Northern
Iowa, Iowa State University and many others.
Jane is looking forward to new possibilities with her growing studio here in Boise, and is loving the process of becoming a member of the Boise community. The weather is amazing all of the time!!!!
